Man fatally shot after confrontation in Norwalk

Sheriff's homicide detectives Thursday are continuing their investigation of a fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man in Norwalk during an altercation and the suspect is still at large.

Deputies from the Norwalk Sheriff's Station responded to Pioneer Boulevard and Los Alisos Circle at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday following a report of a shooting, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau.

When they arrived at the residence, deputies found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound and Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene.

The victim, identified as Giovanni Bliss Chavez, died on the home's driveway, according to the L.A. County medical examiner's office. His place of residence was not immediately available.

According to sheriff's homicide investigators, the unknown suspect drew a handgun during a confrontation and shot the victim.
