CERRITOS – Legendary magician Lance Burton, hailed by the Las Vegas Review-Journal as the “Best Magician” for 18 consecutive years, is bringing his world-class illusions to the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $43.
The Los Angeles Times once described Burton as “a magic purist whose show is a loving homage to his craft.” Known for his masterful sleight-of-hand and captivating stage presence, Burton has been dazzling audiences since childhood.
His fascination with magic began at age 5 when he was invited onstage during a Christmas party performance. By 1977, he was winning competitions as a junior magician, and shortly after turning 20, he became the first recipient of the International Brotherhood of Magicians’ “Gold Medal for Excellence.” Five years later, he took home the top prize at the 1982 Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques (FISM) competition in Switzerland — becoming both the first American and the youngest performer ever to do so.
Over the years, Burton earned two “Magician of the Year” awards from the Academy of Magical Arts and became one of Las Vegas’ most celebrated headliners, performing more than 15,000 shows for 15 million fans. His fame extended beyond the stage, with appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, The View, and The World’s Greatest Magic.
Burton has also hosted specials for The History Channel, Discovery, Animal Planet, and The Family Channel.
