NORWALK -- Thousands of residents are expected at Norwalk's Civic Center lawn on Tuesday for the city's annual Independence Day Pageant festivities.

The day includes live musical performances by award-winning pop-rock band Liquid Blue, games, crafts and face-painting. The night will be capped with a fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Residents are also invited to participate in a Locks of Love hair drive from 1-7 p.m. Stylists will be on-site to provide free blunt haircuts to anyone wishing to donate hair, which will be used to make hairpieces for children and adults suffering from hair loss due to medical treatment.

Hair must be minimum 10 inches long to be eligible for donation. Color and permed hair is acceptable but bleached hair is not usable.

Pageant festivities begin at 6 p.m. For more information, call City Hall at (562) 929-5702.
