Council members are expected to appoint an interim city manager at the same meeting.

Egan is currently on leave and away from City Hall, Vickie Yoshikawa, Norwalk’s communications manager, said Friday.

Egan’s expected dismissal comes after the City Council was late in adopting a 2017-18 spending plan and struggles to approve a suitable contract for waste disposal services.

According to public records, Egan earns an annual salary of $248,916. This may not include a car allowance, retirement contributions as well as medical insurance payments.

Egan was previously city manager of Bellflower before coming to Norwalk in 2011.
