NORWALK – The Norwalk Coordinating Council will host a candidates forum for all those running for Norwalk City Council next Thursday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.
On March 7, Norwalk residents decide who fills two, four-year terms on the council, but also a single, two-year term to replace former Councilman Marcel Rodarte, who resigned last June.
According to City Clerk Theresa Devoy, Harvey Cardenas, Jamie Armenta, Esperanza Free, Tony Ayala, Marcel Mercado, Candy Martinez, Debbie Martinez, Enrique Aranda, and Norwalk Planning Commissioner Jennifer Perez are all official candidates qualified to run for the two, four-year terms.
The three candidates vying for Rodarte’s seat include Alberto Uribe, Ken Menchaca, and current Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School board member Margarita L. Rios.
Both Mayor Mike Mendez and Vice Mayor Cheri Kelley opted not to run for reelection, leaving the vacancies on the dais.
