ADOPTION OF THE CITY’S 2025 URBAN WATER MANAGEMENT PLAN (UWMP) AND 2025 WATER SHORTAGE CONTINGENCY PLAN (WSCP)

Date: Tuesday, June 16, 2026

Time: 6:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard

Place: City Council Chambers, Norwalk City Hall, 12700 Norwalk Boulevard, Norwalk, CA 90650

Description: The City Council of the City of Norwalk will conduct a public hearing to consider adoption of the City’s 2025 Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) and 2025 Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP). UWMPs and WSCPs are prepared by urban water suppliers every five years. These plans support the suppliers’ long-term resource planning to ensure that adequate water supplies are available to meet existing and future water needs. The requirements for UWMPs and WSCPs are found in the California Water Code. The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) provides guidance for urban water suppliers by preparing an UWMP Guidebook, conducting workshops, developing tools, and providing program staff to help water suppliers prepare comprehensive and useful water management plans, implement water conservation programs, and understand the requirements in the California Water Code that regulate Urban Water Management Planning. DWR then reviews the submitted plans to make sure they have addressed the requirements identified in the California Water Code and submits a report to the State Legislature summarizing the status of the plans for each five-year cycle.

The City hereby releases its Draft 2025 UWMP and Draft 2025 WSCP for public review. Interested persons may review the Draft 2025 UWMP and Draft 2025 WSCP report at the City’s webpage at: https://www.norwalk.org/departments_services/public_services/utilities/water/norwalk_municipal_water_system.php#outer-725.
