NORWALK — Five people were arrested for buying alcohol for minors during a decoy operation in Norwalk on March 9, officials said Thursday.
Sheriff’s deputies also cited a store clerk for selling alcohol to an underage customer.
The five suspects were arrested after sheriff’s deputies placed an underage decoy outside a Norwalk convenience store. The decoy asked customers to buy them alcohol because they were underage.
Adults who purchased the alcohol were arrested. The penalty for furnishing alcohol to a minor is a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service.
In a separate decoy operation on Feb. 26, authorities cited a store clerk for selling alcohol to an underage customer. The clerk faces a minimum $250 fine and up to 32 hours of community service for a first offense.
Authorities did not identify the store where the clerk was cited.
