NORWALK – A Norwalk mother is recovering after she was accidentally shot by a small child who had access to a shotgun Wednesday.
The shooting occurred while the woman was sitting inside her car outside Ramona Preschool in Norwalk.
Authorities said the woman was sitting in the driver’s seat of a Honda when her son, who was in the back seat, gained access to a shotgun and pulled the trigger.
Officials didn’t reveal the boy’s age but said he was under 5 years old.
The mother was shot in the torso and transported to a local hospital where she was listed in fair condition. Her children were placed in the custody of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
