$10,000 reward renewed for 2012 killing

NORWALK – A $10,000 reward leading to the conviction of the person that killed a Norwalk tow truck driver was renewed by the L.A. County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.

Robert Garcia, 22, was killed shortly before midnight on June 28, 2012. He was shot and killed after finishing a shift at Vernola’s Towing.

Surveillance video showed that Garcia was confronted by three men before he was fatally shot.

“Robert fled eastbound on Front Street toward the business, but was fatally shot multiple times at the front door of the building,” sheriff’s officials said last year. “Robert was a hardworking provider for his budding family, and had two small children at the time of his death.”

Authorities described the suspects as Hispanic men with thin builds in their early to late teens.

The $10,000 reward was set to expire Feb. 1 but was extended after a motion by Supervisor Janice Hahn.
